[French Revolution]. CONSTITUTION (LA) françoise, présenté au roi par l'Assemblée nationale, le 3 septembre 1791, acceptée le 13 et le 14. In Paris, printed by Du Pont, deputy of Nemours at the National Assembly, Hôtel de Bretonvilliers, Isle Saint-Louis, 1791. In-12, 113 p., [1] blank, contemporary red morocco, smooth spine, title, fleurons, gilt fillets and roulettes, boards bordered with a set of gilt fillets, dots and stars, gilt fillet at the edges, inner roulette, gilt edges (slight russeting, soiling without gravity p.3 and 61). Beautiful copy of this rare edition of the French Constitution, issued from the presses of Pierre-Samuel Dupont de Nemours (1739-1817). Physiocrat economist, writer, journalist and politician, he was a printer and bookseller from 1791, first associated with his friend Antoine de Lavoisier, then with his son Eleuthère-Irénée Dupont de Nemours. He did not sell his business until 1800, after having left France to settle in the United States where he held diplomatic functions under the Consulate and the First Empire.
