Desbordes, 1777. 2 vol. in-12, [2] f., 480 p. + [1] f., 447 p., pl., contemporary marbled and glazed havana calf, spine with 5 nerves, garnet and green title and endpapers, decorated caissons, cold fillet bordering the boards, gilt roulette at the edges, red edges, skilfully restored (sustained browning, titles doubled, margin of one f. replaced). New enlarged edition of this novel attributed to Abbé Olivier, a Gascon priest, ex-cordelier, and which could be largely autobiographical. Illustrated with 24 plates engraved on copper. It is joined : BIBLIOTHÈQUE universelle des romans ; ouvrage périodique dans lequel on donne l'analyse raisonnée des romans anciens & modernes Juillet - Décembre 1781. In Paris, at the Bureau, and at Gueffier, 1781. 3 vol. in-12, homogeneous binding in contemporary speckled tan basane, smooth spine decorated, title and date in garnet morocco, gilt roulette on the edges, red edges (small flaws including gilt rubbed on the spines, one cap uncovered; a corner is missing in the margin p.193 vol. of July).
