JAPON : Triptyque par YOSHITOSHI JAPAN: Triptych by YOSHITOSHI (one of the last great Ukiyo-e Masters, pupil of the great Kuniyoshi), historical series from which a "makemono" roll presentation entitled Dai Nihon Shiryaku Zue (Illustrated Chronicles of Greater Japan). Signature of the artist in cartouche on the right sheet Taiso YOSHITOSHI and red seal Taisô. Published by Yamanaka Kitarô (or Yoshitarô) in 1880. Superb proof, print, colours and condition. Small fold in the lower margin of the central sheet and a very small wear). The young and fiery Yamato Takeru no Mikoto, was sent by his father to hunt the "barbarian demis" in the East, the 'Ebisu'. With beautiful margins, which is quite rare in that historic series with makemono (horizontal rolling painting) like borders. Full images, unbacked.
