LECONTE DE LISLE (Charles Marie René). Set of 3 works, from the library of the publisher Auguste Poulet-Malassis: 1. Complete poems. Paris, Poulet-Malassis et de Broise, 1858. In-12, [2] f., 333 p., [1] f., front, brown half-chagrin, spine with 5 nerves, author, title, place and date gilt, caissons bordered by a double cold fillet, head gilt [Lortic] (slight rubbing). First collective edition, partly original, of Leconte de Lisle's poems, including the Poèmes antiques, the Poèmes et poésies and the Poésies nouvelles. Four pieces have been removed from the first two collections, and one piece added, La Passion; on the other hand, eleven poems appear in the original edition in the third. The edition is illustrated with a frontispiece drawn and etched by Louis Duveau. One of the "few copies" (Carteret) on Hollande laid paper. Copy bound with all its margins. Enriched with an autograph letter signed by the engraver Duveau, flying, addressed to the publisher Poulet-Malassis; Paris, 4 August 1858. One ½ page in-8. It is about the payment and the realization of an etching (most probably the frontispiece of the book): "I made it bite too much and I burned my fingers because I lost the ball when I saw the way it was biting in spite of that it did not come too badly". (Carteret II, 42-43). 2. Idylls of Theocritus and Anacreontic Odes. New translation by Leconte de Lisle. Paris, Poulet-Malassis and De Broise, 1861. In-12, [2] f., 274 p., [1] f., half brown morocco, spine with 5 nerves, author, title, place and date gilt, caissons bordered with a double cold fillet, head gilt [Lortic]. First edition. Copy bound with large margins preserved. (Carteret II, 42). 3. Poems and poems. Paris, Dentu, 1855. In-12, [2] f., XVI-268 p., polished cherry half-chagrin, spine with 5 nerves, author, title and date gilt, head gilt [Amand] (snag on head cover). First edition. A copy bound with all margins. Provenance: the three books bear the bookplate of Auguste Poulet-Malassis: "A.P.M. Je l'ai! (Carteret II, 42).
