A BRIEF drawn from the Roman, adapted to the use of Ursuline nuns, containing all the offices of the mysteries and saints which their constitutions order to be celebrated [Followed by] Le commun des saints. In Paris, by George & Louis Josse, 1687. Two parts in one volume in-8, front, [14] f., 556-CLVI p., contemporary black morocco, spine with 5 nerves, gilt title, fillets, medallion and angular fleurons in cold on the boards, red edges, one clasp (binding tired and rubbed, headpieces and 3 corners worn, one clasp lacking, some soiling and a few pages out of order at the beginning of the volume). Frontispiece by Hallé engraved by P. Landry and 11 full-page copper engravings representing King David, the Annunciation, the Nativity, Easter, the Ascension, Pentecost, the Trinity, the Blessed Sacrament, St. Augustine, St. Ursula, All Saints. Text in French and Latin on 2 columns, in red and black. Regulated copy. Old handwritten bookplate S[oeu]r Marie Elizabeth. Modern bookplate G. Le Vay, notary in Moncontour. Attached: - CHALIPPE (Candide). The life of St. Francis, institutor of the Order of Friars Minor, of that of St. Clare and of the Third Order of Penance In Paris, by P. Prault, 1728. In-4, [4] f., LII-714 p., front cover, contemporary havana calf, spine with 5 nerves, havana title-piece, ornamented caissons, red edges (headbands torn off, jaws split, corners worn, boards chipped; moderate browning, a few freckles).
