JAPAN. Openwork iron tsuba in positive, engraved and chiseled in relief of two groups of three overlapping nasu, one on the top, the other on the bottom, forming the whole guard. Small highlights in gold damascene on some fruits. Two Hitsuana with notches capped with shakudô on their edges touching the nakago ana. 7.2 × 6.9 cm. Signed on the edge of the nakago ana "Bûshîu Jû" (resident in Bûshû province) and Masahisa (artist classified as Ryoko in the Kinko Meikan p. 419). Edo period, 19th century. Three eggplants accompanied by two hawk feathers and Mount Fuji form in Japan, if they appear to you in a dream, a guarantee of long life and prosperity.
