ALBERT UDERZO (1927-2020). Asterix and... - Lot 4 - Kâ-Mondo
ALBERT UDERZO (1927-2020). Asterix and La Traviata. Cover plate. India ink on paper. Extremely rare plate with the original title of the album "Asterix and the weapons of Pompey". This plate is an "inking on blue" which corresponds to a precise stage in the creation of the comic strip: the pencils, which are the original drawings made by Albert Uderzo, are drawn on blue in order to move on to the next stage: the coloring. This coloring blue guides the colorist in the coloring process. This inking on blue is all the more interesting because the title on it is the first title imagined by Albert Uderzo: "Asterix and Pompey's weapons", which was eventually abandoned in favor of "Asterix and the Traviata". Asterix, Obelix and Dogmatix, as well as the two Falbala, are standing in front of the city of Condate (Rennes). One of the Falbala is wearing a helmet, the other is carrying a sword. The title "Asterix and Pompey's weapons" is at the top left of the plate in blue. Signed in the plate on the left, dated and dedicated on the bottom right.
