Anthropomorphic sarcophagus composed of a... - Lot 1 - Kâ-Mondo
Anthropomorphic sarcophagus composed of a tank and its lid with a black background. The figure is wearing a black tripartite wig and is adorned with a large Ousekh necklace striated at the back and decorated with a winged scarab in the center. Protective genii and Anubis frame a text in hieroglyphic characters on three columns. The back side is inscribed with a two-column text, flanked on the sides by a column of seven square pictures representing funerary genii. The meaningless text, however, reveals an excerpt from the classical formula "Osiris who presides over the West. The interior is not painted. Wood, stuccoed linen and pigments. Egypt, Greco-Roman period. 175 × 52 cm. (Some restorations, but very good preservation). Provenance : Delavenne-Lafarge sale, Paris, March 7, 1990, n°. 49. An Artloss certificate accompanies this lot.
