GHIKA (Vladimir). Les intermèdes de Talloire. Very childish decorative fantasies presented in album form for the amusement of a few grown-ups not devoid of leisure and for the satisfaction of a few picture lovers. Paris, Imp. Victor Jacquemin, 1923. In-4, [6] f., 42 plates, publisher's cream card folder with flaps and laces, muted spine, author and title on upper cover (flaps torn). A rare and beautiful work, entirely engraved, with the exception of the first 6 leaves, which contain the table and preface by the painter Albert Besnard. It contains 44 illustrations by Vladimir Ghika, including 30 plates and 2 in-text vignettes. Grandson of the last ruler of Moldavia, Vladimir Ghika (1873-1954) was a priest who converted to Catholicism in 1923 and died in prison in Romania. He was declared Blessed in 2013. A bust of him was created by sculptor Philippe Besnard, the painter's son, who signed the preface. Limited edition of 255 copies with the author's autograph signature: one of the top 5 on japon (n° II; without the bookplate, with the initials and arms of the subscriber, announced in the justification).
