In-8, [2] f., 528 p., contemporary midnight-blue half-chagrin, 4-nerved spine, gilt author, title and fillet, cold fillet to boards (binding rubbed, corners dulled; scattered light russets, hole p.79-80 with a missing word, leaves of prints browned, small snags to one print, scratch and small stain to one print). First edition and one of the first books illustrated with original photographic prints. Lithographed portrait-frontispiece by Auguste Charpentier and 10 laminated albumen prints by Henri de la Blanchère showing the famous tragedienne Rachel in her principal roles (Hermione, Camille, Monime, Phèdre, Roxane, Athalie and Czarine).
