[Europe] [Map]. FER (Nicolas de). Europe divided according t - Lot 80
[Europe] [Map]. FER (Nicolas de). Europe divided according to the extent of its main parts and whose main points. Paris, chez Danet, 1724. Copper-engraved map, ca. 106 × 156 cm except for the ornamental border with flowers, cloth-backed, under glass and modern frame (browning, due to old faded coloring, some minor rubbing and missing spots on the seas; not examined out of the frame).
A very decorative map, decorated with a large frame composed of a series of cartouches showing different peoples of Europe in typical scenes.
Dated 1723 in the dedication cartouche; on each side is a text, on the left the Description de l'Europe par de Fer, on the right the Explanation des ornements de la carte. This edition was published after the death of Nicolas de Fer in 1720, by his son-in-law and successor Guillaume Danet, a paper merchant with a store on the Pont-Notre-Dame, in Paris.
