Alexis KEUNEN (1921-1990). - Lot 336
Alexis KEUNEN (1921-1990). Allegory of the destiny. Pen, black ink and ballpoint style. Monogrammed K on the lower left and dated 1948 on the lower right. 60,5 x 41,7 cm. Modern frame. Belgian artist who lived 30 years in Rouen, Alexis Keunen was a recognized painter of the Belgian surrealist movement as a friend of René Magritte (1898 - 1967) and creator of a fantastic universe. He participated in numerous exhibitions around the world and a sale of his studio holdings took place in 2015 in Rouen, his adopted city. This drawing stands out in the production of Keunen, who early on turned to a geometric style centered around a pictorial alphabet, close to his friend Magritte. This sheet, monogrammed K and dated 1948, is much more indicative of the influence of Salvador Dali.
