An elegant copy from several fine libraries: Antoine-Augustin Renouard (cat., 1854, n°1913, bookplate), Baron Roger Portalis (cat.1878, bookplate), Roger Paillet (cat. particulier Bibliothèque d'un bibliophile rédigé par Henri Beraldi, 1885, n°67; signature on one endpaper). Old signature at foot of title. ADDENDUM: Washed copy with some browning; booklet S bound out of order. Illustrated with a title-frontispiece, 15 full-page figures and a plate, all engraved in intaglio, for a total of 17 illustrations. The figures consist of several scenes, each bearing a small engraved number. The numbers were formerly added in ink in the margins of the corresponding paragraphs; they remain partly visible even though the copy has been washed. As these numbers do not appear on the last 3 engravings, they were added in ink at the same time.
