[Map]. [Bosphorus]. [CELLARIUS (Christoph)]. Bosporus, Maeotis, Iberia, Albania, et Samartia Asiatica. [Cambridge and Amsterdam, circa 1706]. A copper-engraved map, probably colored later, under glass and modern frame, 21 x 31.5 cm (sighted). Not examined out of frame. Engraved map by W. H. Toms, published in "Notitiae Orbis Antiqui sive Geographiae Plenioris, tomus alter: Asiam et Africam", of which it forms plate no. XXV.

ANCIENT BOOKS including 3 post-incunabula, 27 16th-century books and 15 armorial bindings; L'Asne d'or d'Apulée, 1623, Renouard/Portalis copy (lot 6); very rare first edition of Jacques de Billy's treatise on mathematics, 1670 (lot 23); miniature edition of the French Constitution of 1791 in a revolutionary binding (lot 52); illustrated edition of Les Contes et nouvelles de La Fontaine dite des Fermiers Généraux, 1762, in contemporary red morocco (lot 111); mémoires de Philippe de Commynes, 1747, bearing the arms of Chancelier d'Aguesseau (lot 164); Comédies de Térence, 1771, bearing the arms of the Princesse de Ligne (lot 211); first edition of Elémens de la philosophie de Neuton by Voltaire, 1738 (lot 225); extremely rare island atlas by Pinargenti, Venice, 1573 (lot 166); a botanical collection, Schnellenberg, 1566, illustrated with numerous woodcut and colored plant figures (lot 194).
