Genève, s.n., 1774. 8 volumes in-4, contemporary marbled basane, 5-ribbed spine, fawn title-piece, ornate coffers, triple gilt fillet edging the covers, speckled edges (defects including uncovered head-pieces, partial splitting of some jaws; sporadic browning). Important edition with commentary by Voltaire, published in Berlin by Rottman under the false address of Geneva. The text is decorated with a repeated frame on each page. The illustration consists of an allegorical frontispiece engraved by Watelet after Pierre, and 34 engraved plates after Gravelot. (Bengesco, 1700; Cohen, 255-256).
