DESCARTES (René). La géométrie. A Paris, chez C. Angot, 1664. In-4, 119 p., [4] f., figs, contemporary brown calf, 5-ribbed spine, gilt title, ornate caissons, gilt roulette at the edges, speckled edges (old restorations, rubbing, stains on boards; freckles, small marginal ink stain on last f.).
First separate French edition of this text, which first appeared after the Discourse of Method in its 1637 edition. It is illustrated with woodcut figures in the text.
Copper-engraved portrait of Descartes added, glued to upper flyleaf. Handwritten acquisition notes dated 1756, 1767 and 1880; old handwritten bookplate crossed out Stephanus Baudon (?).
