FERRARIUS (Johannes). Ioannis Ferrarii Montani Adnotationes in iiii institutionum Justiniani libros. Apud Marpurgum, [F. Rhode], 1532. [On the colophon: Marpugi Fran. Rhodus excedebat, xiii kal. april. An. xxxii.]. [16]-CCCXXXVI f. - Bound at the end]: HEGENDORFF (Christoph). Libri dialecticae Legalis quinq[ue]. Lipsiae, exc. N. Faber, 1531. [120] f. [sign. Two works in 1 large vol. in-8, contemporary saddle-skin over wood, double and mute 3-nerved spines, cold decorated boxes, boards decorated in cold with a set of filets and roulettes, name stamped in black on the upper board, handwritten title on one edge, clasps (one clasp incomplete, boards stained, worm holes on spine, upper back cover and title, endpapers missing; paper lac. in margin f.O3, CC7, QQ3, marks removed and holes filled in title and last f. of 2nd work). Interesting reunion of two legal works composed by J. Ferrarius (1486-1558), German lawyer and philosopher, and C. Hegendorff (1500-1540), Protestant theologian, jurist and avowed admirer of Erasmus. Each title page is decorated with a woodcut frame; woodcut initials. Provenance: Joannes Laylenkes (name stamped in black on the upper cover). At least one other work is known from the same library, in a similar binding and bearing the same mark, Calepinus, Dictionarium, Basel, 1538, preserved at the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek. Some old underlining and marginal notes. (USTC 669205; and 671871 with different imprint: Nickel Schmidt).
