[LE BLANC (Vincent)]. Le voyageur curieux... - Lot 118 - Kâ-Mondo
[LE BLANC (Vincent)]. Le voyageur curieux qui fait le tour du monde. Avec ses matières d'entretien qui composent l'Histoire curieuse. By Sr. de B. A Paris, chez F. Clousier, 1664. Three parts in one volume in-4, [8] f., 424 p. continuous ; 360 p., contemporary ivory vellum (binding rebacked and repaired, endpapers renewed, title faded and repaired, quires out of order, int. defects including worm tract p.170-180 and qq. wetness).
Unique edition of this work most often attributed to Vincent Le Blanc (1554 - c. 1640), a French explorer from Marseilles, but which appears to be a compilation organized by the publisher Clousier. It was not in the Chadenat library. The first part of the volume (up to p.253) describes all manner of places in northern and eastern Europe, Africa and Asia, and mentions the shores of America, under the pretext of a voyage "around the world"; the second (up to p.424) relates various anecdotes of "curious philosophy" on the four elements and man; the third, forming half the volume, is a collection of historical anecdotes.
