[PFEIL (Johann Gottlob Benjamin)]; MERCIER (Louis-Sébastien). L'homme sauvage. A Amsterdam, chez Zacharie, 1767. In-12, 309 p., contemporary fawn half-basane, smooth spine, red title-piece, gilt friezes, red speckled edges (rubbed, corners dulled; worm damage in lateral margins, one corner missing in margin p.51-52). Loose translation, by Louis-Sébastien Mercier, of the Rousseauist novel Der Wilde, by Johann Gottlob Benjamin Pfeil (1732-1800), published as a collection in Leipzig in 1757. A counterfeit of the first edition of this work, published the same year by the widow Duchesne in Paris.
