Vandenhoeck, 1733. In-4, [5] f., XXXII p. (Vie de Sappho), 253 p., [13] f. (index), old vellum, smooth spine, modern handwritten title, author and date (boards stained; angular wetness throughout, more sustained at beginning of vol. with pinkish stains and hole repaired with adhesive on front, title and 1st f.). Latin translation of the Greek fragments of the poetess of Lesbos, none of whose complete books have come down to us, although numerous translations had been published previously. This is the first critical edition of all the fragments then known. Engraved frontispiece with medallion portrait of Sappho. Provenance: Emmanuel Phelippes-Beaulieux (Nantes, 1829-1874), Hellenist (engraved bookplate).
