First Tubingen edition of Martin Luther's translation of the Bible, in the version commented on by theologians Christoph Matthaeus Pfaff (1686-1760) for the Old Testament and Johann Christian Klemm (1688-1754) for the New Testament. Title in black and red and two-column text. Edition illustrated with portrait-frontispiece by Christoph Matthaeus Pfaff after Gottfried Eichler, engraved by Johann Daniel Hertz; 2 titles engraved by Seiller Schasshurianus and Johann Aman, dated 1730; 5 plates, 3 of them double-page (map of Palestine, map of Jerusalem, map of Asia Minor, Israelite cult and Ezechiel temple); 3 bands, one with arms; all engraved on copper; and woodcut lettering.
