GLOBE TERRESTRE PAR FÉLIX DELAMARCHE - Paris, 1832. Mobile terrestrial globe in cardboard and polychrome engraved paper on original blackened wooden base with 4 quarter meridian circles with longitudes and latitudes of European cities, holding an equatorial table, with cardinal points and subdivisions, winds, months and 12 zodiacal figures, surmounted by an iron needle (without watch). "Globe terrestre dressé par F[éli]x Delamarche, 1832 / Dressé par Barrière Fr[ères] / Écrit par Pélicier" and "A Paris / Chez l'auteur, Ingénieur-mécanicien / Rue du Jardinet, n°13." Diameter: 18 cm. Perimeter: 57 cm. H.: 43.5 cm. (To be restored. Lacks, cracks, rubbing. Legs wobbling). Claude Félix Delamarche (1779-1835) was the son of Charles François Delamarche (1740-1817), who took over Jean Fortin's workshop and thus acquired Didier Robert de Vaugondy's collection in 1786. Félix Delamarche established himself with his father, then took over the family geographical publishing house on his father's death. He lived at 13 rue du Jardinet between 1804 and 1840. He worked in collaboration with Charles Dien in the years 1815-1820. References - DEKKER (Elly).
