Training officer's shako from the Ecole Spéciale Militaire d - Lot 206
Training officer's shako from the Ecole Spéciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr in the shape of a truncated cone. Strong cardboard covered in sky-blue cloth, edged on the top and sides with gold woven braid, black leather bourdalou. Triple ribbed metal cockade painted in the tricolor blue-white-red (missing central gilded brass plate). Chin strap with gilded and chased brass curb chain, held in place by two rosettes stamped with a flaming grenade. Black patent leather visor encircled by a gilded brass band folded astride the outer edge, lined with green waxed leather. Black leather inner cap, lined with red cloth stamped "Michel Spiquel & Cie, E. Delorme Suc°, 164 rue St Honoré PARIS". 19th century. (Worn and missing). Two plumes, one tricolor blue-white-red, the other red, in rooster feathers. E. Bidal. (Partly unfolded).
