ERASME and DEVELAY, Victor. Les Colloques, published in Paris by Librairie des Bibliophiles between 1875 and 1876, in 3 volumes in octavo / In-8 format, stapled. Frontispiece, III, 308 pp; 316 pp, 1 p. table; 322 pp. pages. Discharge of frontispiece and some vignettes. Traces of wear on covers, minor tears. Beautiful edition of this translation of Erasmus' Colloques by Victor Develay. The narrative is embellished with charming vignettes introducing each text, etched by Jules-Adolphe Chauvet and printed on the Delatre press. Small number printed on Hollande watermarked paper (Vicaire, III, col. 583). Victor Develay, translator and historian, made his name with his translation of Erasmus' works (Eloge de la Folie, Colloques). His work earned him the Prix Jules-Janin in 1833. Crowned "H.G" bookplate stamped in red on each cover and title page. A good copy of this careful edition.
