JEANCON, Jean. Pathological Anatomy, Pathology and Physical - Lot 344
JEANCON, Jean. Pathological Anatomy, Pathology and Physical Diagnosis. A Series of Clinical Reports comprising the Principal Diseases of the Human Body. Published in Cincinnati by Progress Publishing Company in 1885. One volume in folio format. Black half-chagrin with corners. Smooth spine decorated with faux gilt ribbing. Front cover with gilt title. 100 full-page chromolithographed color plates, accompanied by 100 pages of text. Text in English. First hinge open. Binding damaged (rubbing, lack at bottom of spine and tired jaws), first cover faded, stain on top of last five plates, but interior in very good condition. This beautiful anatomical atlas is a translation of Jean Cruveilhier's "Anatomie pathologique du corps humain", published between 1829 and 1842. The author's text has been improved by Jean Jeançon to reflect more recent knowledge, without his mentioning Jean Cruveilhier. It comprises 100 plates measuring 48cm by 32cm, almost all in color. More or less the entire human body is covered, from cross-sections of the brain and spine to the digestive and cardiac systems.
