CELLI, Rose and PARRAIN, Nathalie. Baba Yaga narrated by Rose Celli. Published in Paris by Flammarion in 1932. In octavo / In-8 oblong stapled format, with full-page illustrated cover and second plate illustrated with a central drawing. 12ff (unnumbered), with in- and out-of-text color drawings, some double-page, by Nathalie Parrain. Title page in green, beige, red and black. Cover slightly browned at extremities. First French edition of this Russian folk tale told by Rose Celli, illustrated with beautiful color drawings by Nathalie Parain, one of the star illustrators of the Albums du Père Castor between 1931 and 1935, whose technique is close to a paper-cut technique, employing cubist and geometric processes. Baba Yaga is a supernatural being, usually in the form of an old woman, from Slavic folklore. This copy features a page cut from a Russian children's book. A very fine copy.
