Published in Paris by Deterville in 1807. 2 volumes in-8, half tan basane, smooth spine decorated with gilt fillets, black titles. XII, 564 pp. ; 449 pp. XVI folding plates. Joints rubbed, edge of second volume damaged. Slight yellowing, some foxing. First edition of this textbook by Brongniart, director of the Manufacture de Sèvres known for his work in mineralogy. The second volume contains XVI plates on 15 folding sheets presenting diagrams, plans and machines. There are also numerous notes on various minerals: quartz, sandstone, lime, etc. A good copy, complete with sixteen plates.
