First edition of François Arago's complete works in 17 volumes. A brilliant scientist and great republican, Arago began preparing his papers for the edition of his complete works as early as the days of June 1848, although it was not completed during his lifetime. The volumes in our series are divided as follows: 3 volumes of biographical notes (numbered 1-3), five of scientific notes (volumes 4-8), two of scientific memoirs (volumes 10-11), four volumes of his writings on popular astronomy (volumes 14-17), two of his accounts of scientific travels (volume 9), one volume of mélanges (volume 9) and one volume of tables (volume 13). Impressive set in good condition, very fresh inside.
