Eggplant half-basin, smooth spines decorated with large gilt fleurons and gilt false nerves, red title page, edges speckled. 464, 468, 519, 495, 499, 420, 384 and 423 pages, 58 illustrated plates. Spines slightly sunned, some edges rubbed and headbands scuffed with a few tears, foxing prominent in volume 1, but engravings generally preserved. Atlas missing (rarely present). Paris, ses monuments, son Histoire: 8 volumes devoted to the French capital, with 58 full-page steel engravings depicting the most emblematic monuments of the future City of Light, both present and past: Notre-Dame, the Vendôme column, the Old Louvre, the Invalides, the Fountain of the Innocents... This first illustrated edition is enhanced by new notes and an appendix by J.-L. Belin.
