Eggplant half-basin, smooth spines decorated with large gilt fleurons and gilt false nerves, red title page, edges speckled.

Spines slightly sunned, some edges rubbed and headbands scuffed with a few tears, foxing prominent in volume 1, but engravings generally preserved. Atlas missing (rarely present).

This first illustrated edition is enhanced by new notes and an appendix by J.-L. Belin. It updates the state of monuments and events since the original edition of 1825-1827, giving us a glimpse of what the latter was waiting to see. With bookplate on title page of first volume.
