This collection by French writer Henri Ghéon, pseudonym of Henri Léon Vangeon (1875-1944), is the first volume in a series with the general title "Les Campagnes Simples". The set aims to translate "ingenuously the multiple spectacle of days through the synthetic seasons of a year. [...] A sort of familiar, fragmented epic [...], in which the relationships between man and things are sketched out". (preface). Autograph signed letter from the author on the title page: "To my friend Charles Guérin, very affectionately. Henri Ghéon". Pleasant copy with a letter from the author to the poet Charles Guérin (1873-1907).
