[MEDECINE]. Dictionaire (sic) Abrégé des Sciences Médicales. - Lot 217
[MEDECINE]. Dictionaire (sic) Abrégé des Sciences Médicales. Paris, Charles-Joseph Panckoucke, 1821. 15 volumes in 15 vol. in-8. Demi-basane, smooth spines decorated with quadruple gilt fillets and fleurons, orange and fir green chagrin titles. Approx. 550 pages per volume. Epidermures on some boards, rubbed headpieces, some pages tarnished. A comprehensive medical dictionary, written by some of the most eminent physicians and scientists of the time: Mathieu Orfila (1787-1853), Georges Cuvier (1769-1832) and Jean Itard (1774-1838). Ex-libris of Gérard Pesme, baron de Saint-Genies on the front flyleaves. Interesting testimony to the state of medical knowledge during the Restoration, in a sympathetic period binding.
