[SATIRICAL PRESS]. GUGUSSE. La Cornue. Journal artistico-cr - Lot 260

[SATIRICAL PRESS]. GUGUSSE. La Cornue. Journal artistico-critico-humoristico ... &... Littéraire. Published in [Paris] without mention of publisher, in 1889. In 5 volumes of In quarto / In-4 format in sheets. Approximately 20 pages per volume. Margins faded, a few tears at folds, some foxing, ink occasionally smudged. Set of 5 issues of the newspaper La Cornue: 1, 6, 7, 8 and 9, drawn and edited by Gugusse, including an issue devoted to the 1889 World's Fair. This small satirical newspaper is a good example of the flowering of low-circulation publications - humorous, satirical, political or even simply informative - that closely followed the 1881 Freedom of the Press Act. An excellent "in-house" satirical publication.
