Ethnological study describing and analyzing 177 objects used in the rituals of Siberian shamanist populations, preserved in the Asia Department of the Musée de l'Homme in Paris. It is divided into 4 parts: the first lists the shaman's accessories (sticks, drums, costumes, headdresses and masks), the second deals with lay people's accessories (jinx clothing, offering crockery, festive accessories), the third with ongones (zoomorphs, anthropomorphs, sets of ongones), and the fourth with divinatory objects. The book includes a dozen color photographs of the most astonishing objects and two unpublished early photographs of Siberian natives at the turn of the century.
A very good copy.
