Janus crest head in leather-covered wood with black patina for one and red for the second. White eyes, mouth open to reveal teeth. Both heads share a feather and horsehair headdress and pompons. Ekoi, Nigeria. H. 30 cm. (Worms and woven rattan base are detached). This beautiful head was photographed in black and white at the time of its discovery in the 1960s/1970s.
