CHARDONNE, Jacques. Signed, autograph letter addressed to Abel Bonnard. One page, in-4 format (270 x 210 mm), on letterhead with an embossed design of the Château de Boaça (Pyrénées-Orientales), May 23, 1924. Paper slightly browned at the margins, with a small stain. Jacques Chardonne (1884–1968) congratulates Abel Bonnard on his latest work. “You know how to offer a rose after a serious lesson; you are always magnificent in that modest traveler’s attire that suits you so well; in short, you enchant, and I am glad to have waited to read you until I had the leisure of the countryside, which is the beginning of a journey"... He is no doubt referring to *En Chine*, which Abel Bonnard published that year.
