JAMMES, Francis. Janot-Poète. - Lot 182
JAMMES, Francis. Janot-Poète. Paris, Mercure de France, 1928. In-12, paperback. 246 pp. Cover frayed with a small tear on the back cover; spine warped with cracks along the bottom; paper browned at the margins. First edition of this poetic, pastoral novel in which Francis Jammes (1868–1938) celebrates rural life, nature, and the sensibility of a young poet from Béarn, an ideal embodiment of simplicity and authenticity. This copy is enhanced by an autographed dedication to the poet Jean Cocteau, a charming echo of the book’s title.
