Large 8vo, paperback, two-tone printed covered board with publisher’s vignette, in a red marbled paper slipcase. 283 pp., 29 plates of black-and-white illustrations as inserts, including 3 double-page spreads, 3 facsimile autographs, headpieces, and decorative elements. Spine slightly creased with minor paper loss at the bottom. First edition. Includes the facsimile of Goethe’s “Elegie de Marienbad,” presented separately (accordion-folded leaflet in a titled sleeve). One of 45 copies numbered on Imperial Japanese paper (first edition after 9 copies on antique Japanese paper), this one No. 12, signed by the author. It contains a separate set of plates and a set of ornaments and in-text illustrations on Chinese paper bound at the end. In very good condition.
