[REVOLUTION] SÉRIEYS, Antoine, and ANDRÉ, J.-F. Unpublished - Lot 274
[REVOLUTION] SÉRIEYS, Antoine, and ANDRÉ, J.-F. Unpublished Anecdotes from the Late 18th Century, as a Sequel to *Anecdotes françaises*. Paris, Monory, printed by Didot the Younger, Year IX—1801. In-12, marbled sheepskin, plain spine with decoration, red title label, yellow edges. 2 blank folios, VI and 274 pp. Some scuffing, mainly at the clasps, with a tear in the upper cover, and the tail cap missing. A rare first edition, partially printed on blue paper [Barbier, I, 184]. As indicated by the lengthy subtitle: “A work containing the key to several major events, unknown details about Princess Lamballe, Director Carnot, the current President of the United States of America, an interesting conversation between Louis XVI and Bailly, etc.” It is primarily a compilation of whimsical anecdotes set against the backdrop of major historical events, many of which relate to the Revolutionary period. A beautiful copy in a contemporary binding.
