[Paris], Berthold Rembolt, 1510. 4 parts in 1 vol. in-folio, [2]-CLXXIX-[3]-IIII-[2]-LXXII (miscoded for LXXIV) - [4]-XL-XXXIX-[3] f., 18th c. havane basane, spine with 6 nerves, garnet-red title-piece, roulette and cold fillet bordering the boards, red edges (corners rubbed, one uncovered, scratches on the boards, signature washed on the title with stain on the v° and in the margin of the 2 1st f., sporadic spotting in margins, more marked on the very first and last f.; negligible worm damage on the first 20 f., tear without mq. f° c8, some rare soiling; 2 f. missing in the last part, cc1 and dd8). Important and uncommon edition of this collection of canon law composed of 4 parts, each preceded by a particular title page. It brings together the Sextus liber of Pope Boniface VIII, the Decretals of Pope Clement V, known as the "Clementines", the Extravagantes of John XXII, and the Extravagantes communes, which bring together decretals and constitutions promulgated between the end of the 13th and the end of the 15th centuries. The edition is established by Jean Chappuis, doctor in right native of Bourges, whose name appears in acrostic of a poem on the title page; the comments are of Johannes Andreae, Italian jurisconsult. Neat printing in red and black on 2 columns, with woodcut initials; first title page decorated with a decorative woodcut border, and bearing the bookseller's mark which also appears on the other 3 titles. A large woodcut is repeated on the v° of 3 title pages, and a large woodcut figure of the Arbor consanguinitatis on the full page. (USTC 143711).
