[VECELLIO (Cesare). De gli habiti antichi, e moderni di diverse parti del mondo libri due Venice, 1598]. Very strong in-8, [31] opening f. (sign. from d2 onwards, then foliated from 2 to 502, except about 70 f. missing), soft ivory vellum (worn and dislocated rel., the beginning and the end of the volume are missing, and about 70 f. in the body of the text: begins with the table on fol. d2, and the text on fol. A2; wetness, dirt, accidents of use).
On the back of each leaf there is a full-page woodcut showing a figure in costume; the first half of the volume concerns Italy, then come the countries of Europe and the rest of the known world: Africa, Asia, America. Beside each illustration there is a bilingual commentary in Italian and Latin.
