WEPFER (Jean-Jacques). Original edition of this collection of observations by the famous Swiss anatomist Jean-Jacques Wepfer "one of the best observers and one of the most judicious experimenters of the 17th century. These works are of great value" (Dezeimeris: Historical Dictionary of Medicine). Wepfer discovered the duodenal glands and his research on the nervous system and apoplexy is important. Illustrated with a copperplate portrait of the author engraved by Dieter Seiller, a vignette with the title, a full-page copperplate engraving showing the cutting of an aorta, a headband and woodcut lamp bases.
