DUMONT (Pierre-Joseph). History of slavery in Africa (for thirty-four years) by P.-J. Dumont, written on his own statements, by J.-S. Quesné. In Paris, by Pillet, 1820. In-8, [2] f., 157 p., [1] f., pl., lavaliere calf, spine with five raised bands and gilt roulette, fillets and cold fleurons, green basane title-piece, gilt roulette and gilt anular fleurons on the boards, gilt roulette on the edges of the spines and counter-pieces, marbled edges [Brugandat]. (small engraving of worms on the boards, snagged on the tail cap, one corner rubbed). Third revised, corrected and enlarged edition of this curious account of white slavery in Algeria, based on the experience of P.J. Dumont, kept in slavery by the sheik Osman, and freed in 1815. Illustrated with 2 portraits of the author and a facsimile of his handwriting.
