London, Edouard Kelmarneck, 1779. 2 vols. in-18, contemporary red morocco, smooth spine, havana titles and tomes, gilt fleurons, triple gilt fillet on covers, gilt fillet on edges, gilt edges, interior roulette (corners worn, headpieces uncovered, spotting on frontispiece, one corner mq. on margin of limin.). The frontispiece titled " par la Corbleu ! que les nonnes sont folles !... " after J.M. Marillier is engraved by N. de Launay. Provenance: Pierre-Eugène Dubarle, Conseiller à la Cour Impériale de Paris (engraved armorial bookplate). Attached: SÉVIGNÉ (Marie de Rabutin-Chantal de). Collection of the Letters of Madame la Marquise de Sevigné to Madame la Comtesse de Grignan, her daughter. New edition. Paris, Rollin, 1738. 6 vol. in-12, contemporary havana calf, spine with 5 nerves, burgundy title and greechpieces, decorated caissons, red edges (binding rubbed, 2 headpieces missing, some corners dull; some soiling and freckling). Composite edition: t.2 is from the 1754 edition; the bindings of volumes 1 and 2 differ from the other 4 volumes. Without the portrait of Madame de Sevigne; on the other hand, the engraved portrait of her daughter is present in t.5 That is 8 volumes.
