RENARD. CHAMPFLEURY. The earthenware violin. Paris, Dentu, 1877. In-8, half duck-blue chagrin with period corners, spine with 5 nerves, author, title, monogram and date gilt, gilt head, untrimmed (superf. rubs on nerves, 2 corners dull, slight transfers of the colour figs). First edition illustrated with 2 hors-texte etchings drawn and engraved by Jules Adeline, and 32 coloured bands, lettering and caps by Emile Renard. Added portrait of the author on a background of an auction house by Beausme, Montcrie and Malpertuy. Provenance: Jules Clarétie, novelist, 1840-1913 (monogram on the back; notice and numerical label of the sale of his library pasted on the endpapers).
