FORT (Paul). Poems from France. Lyrical bulletin of the war (1914-1915). First series [only published]. Paris, Payot, 1916. In-16, 328 p., half bottle-green morocco with corners, spine with 5 nerves decorated with a gilt stippling, author, title and date gilt, caissons decorated with small irons, gilt fillet on the covers, gilt head, cover and spine preserved [Yseux, successor of Thierry-Simier] (one corner dulled, rubbing at the head of the upper jaw). First edition of this volume forming the 19th series of the poet's French Ballads, begun in 1897. Under this title of "Bulletin lyrique de la guerre", no second series has appeared. Dedicated to Lucien Guitry, the work is preceded by a letter addressed to the author by Anatole France. One of 22 copies on Hollande (n°?36, the only large paper after 20 japon?; 20 Hollande only announced in the justification, and Talvart & Place indicate two more out of trade). A copy finely established by Yseux who kept his witnesses. Provenance: Eugène Lazare Richtenberger (1856-1920), art critic (sale 1921, n° 248; engraved bookplate). (Talvart & Place VI, 106).
