Large in-8, red half-chagrin, spine with 4 nerves, gilt author and title, ornate boxes, red chagrined percaline boards, gilt edges [Fock] (stains to boards, one corner dull, moderate sporadic russ.). Frontispiece and 70 plates printed on strong paper, woodcut and coloured, and numerous headpieces and lamp-ends, all after Grandville. New edition increased with ornamental illustrations, and "completed for the text by M. Jules Janin". Texts by Albéric Second, Louis Lurine, Clément Caraguel, Taxile Delord, H. de Beaulieu, Louis Huart, Charles Monselet, Julein Lemer. A copy with large margins. Attached: GRANDVILLE. One hundred proverbs. Text by Trois têtes dans un bonnet. Paris, Garnier, [ca. 1870]. Large in-8, [2] f., 551 p., contemporary red half-chagrin with corners, spine with 5 nerves, author and title gilt, decorated caissons, double gilt fillet on the boards, gilt head (corners rubbed, moderate sporadic browning). 51 wood-engraved and coloured plates, including the frontispiece, and numerous headpieces, lamp-ends and vignettes, all after Grandville's compositions. New edition revised and enlarged for the text by M. Quitard. Ex-libris label monogrammed PA (?). That is 2 volumes.
