Hàm Nghi, prince of Annam (1871-1944), known... - Lot 86 - Kâ-Mondo
Hàm Nghi, prince of Annam (1871-1944), known as TU XUAN. Country landscape with blue flowers, circa 1906-1908. Oil on canvas. 27.8 × 35.5 cm. (Cleat holes in all four corners). In this impressionistic landscape, the viewer is immersed in the lushness of the vegetation thanks to the freedom of the brushstroke. The cleat holes in the four corners of the canvas indicate that it was painted in the open air. These two-pointed tacks made it possible to transport two paintings face to face without them touching. Bibliography: painting published in Amandine Dabat's book, " Hàm Nghi, Empereur en exil, artiste à Alger ", Sorbonne Université Presses, Paris, 2019, p. 435. We thank Madame Amandine Dabat who confirmed the authenticity of this painting.
