Hàm Nghi, prince of Annam (1871-1944), called... - Lot 86 - Kâ-Mondo
Hàm Nghi, prince of Annam (1871-1944), called TU XUAN. Landscape with cypress trees (Menthon-Saint-Bernard). Oil on canvas. Dated "August 30, 1906" on the lower right. 27 × 40,5 cm. (Misses and hole). At the end of August 1906, Hàm Nghi and his family were vacationing in Menthon-Saint-Bernard, on the shore of Lake Annecy. Hàm Nghi, who writes in his correspondence how much he appreciates the freshness and calm of this region, paints this landscape in the vicinity of the lake in very harmonious tones, with a diffuse light. Bibliography: painting published in Amandine Dabat's book, Hàm Nghi, Empereur en exil, artiste à Alger, Sorbonne Université Presses, Paris, 2019, p. 434. We thank Madame Amandine Dabat who confirmed the authenticity of this painting.
