CRUPPI (Louise). Avant l'heure. Paris, Ollendorff, 1905. In-18, [2] f., 197 p., red morocco, five-ribbed spine, caissons and boards edged with triple gilt fillet, double gilt fillet at the edges, gilt inner lace, gilt head, covers and spine preserved, witnesses preserved [J. Kauffmann]. One of 5 numbered copies on Hollande laid paper (n°5). A very fine copy, perfectly established by J. Kauffmann. Author, letter-writer, feminist and accomplished musician, Louise Cruppi ran one of the most important musical salons of the Third Republic; this first novel is inspired by the early life of composer Georges Bizet, with whom she shared a taste for Spain that led Ravel to dedicate l'Heure Espagnole to her. Engraved bookplate of Jean Cruppi, the author's husband.
