Author, letter-writer, feminist and accomplished musician, Louise Cruppi ran one of the most important musical salons of the Third Republic; this first novel is inspired by the early life of composer Georges Bizet, with whom she shared a taste for Spain that led Ravel to dedicate l'Heure Espagnole to her.
