Two works in one volume, in-12, [8] f., 308 p. ; [4] f., 247 p., figs, contemporary red morocco, spine with 5 ornate nerves, bronze-green title-piece, triple gilt fillet bordering the caissons and boards, gilt roulette at the necks and chasses, gilt edges (superf. rubbing, scattered browning, tear without missing on f.A2 of the 2nd work). A fine copy of this one-volume set of two works by the Jesuit Gabriel Daniel, who here develops his criticisms of Cartesianism, in particular the vortex system. Both works are illustrated with a number of woodcut figures in the text.
